MANAGER

As the QA Manager, you will have excellent communication skills and a passion for playing and creating games. You will develop the QA strategy for all areas in your remit, whilst coaching and mentoring a small number of QA Leads and setting the quality standards for our games.

Third Kind Games is an independent game studio based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, the heart of the UK games industry. Third Kind was founded in 2016, by a group of industry veterans from many high profile companies such as Activision, Codemasters, Sony, Crytek and we have been growing ever since. 

We’re now one of the largest independently owned game dev studios, we have also launched our new studio in Poland, built on the same shared TKG spirit and values.

We work with some of the biggest AAA names in the industry such as Blizzard, Amazon, Microsoft and Mythical Games. Alongside our client projects, we’re also working on our own IP, so it’s a super exciting time at Third Kind Games!

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • You will have led and managed a small team of QA leads and several QA testers.

  • You will have a proven track record of collaborating with production and management teams.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring that our games work as intended, free of bugs and exceeding the standards that we, customers and our players expect.

  • You will have knowledge of industry best practices in relation to test management tools.

  • With your passion for gaming, you will be expected to develop our team’s approach to QA and testing, to ensure continuous improvement.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • You will be responsible for leading and managing our QA team working across a range of innovative and creative games for PC and console.

  • You will define, own long-term and manage delivery of the QA strategy across multiple projects.

  • You will represent the QA team at a management level from both an internal and external perspective, whilst influencing at all studio levels, with relevant reporting on project quality risks.

  • You understand performance management and can lead, develop and motivate the team through one to one’s and structured appraisals to deliver training needs and mentor your successors.

  • You will identify and execute the resource planning required for the QA function and embed best practices working with your team and HR on interviews and candidate management.

  • You will have good knowledge of testing methodologies, creation, and execution of test plans.

  • You will show initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to developing the QA functions.

  • Good communication skills with the ability to contribute to Scrum meetings, create innovative solutions for our games and help drive the development of the project and the team.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • 1+ years' experience in a similar QA Manager role. 

  • You will have led and managed a team (3+) of QA leads and testers.

  • 5+ years' experience in a QA role working with Unity or a similar engine.

  • Experience appraising, coaching and developing QA teams.

  • Experience in managing and building high performing QA teams, with good reporting and business engagement skills.

DESIRED
  • Experience using test automation systems and embedding them within the studio.

  • Experience working on all stages of a AAA project, from concept to launch.
