Having opened a studio in Poland in February this year, we thought there had never been a better time to head along to one of the largest annual game conferences in Poland – Digital Dragons.
It was our first time experiencing Digital Dragons and it was extra special for us as we were the Main Sponsor for 2022.
This year was the 10th-anniversary edition of the event, with two days of conference and exhibitions from studios large and small. There were more than 2,060 attendees from over 40 countries, along with 146 speakers on the conference tracks.
Sharing our journey on the conference track
Sylwester Zaluga, our Technical Director of TKG Poland, was one of the speakers on the conference track on day one of the event with his talk ‘From 9 to 99: Growing an independent studio from the ground up’.
The talk covered how Third Kind Games started as a team of just nine people back in 2016, how that founding team grew the studio to become one of the largest independent studios with AAA pedigree, alongside some of the challenges and learnings along the way.
We had some great feedback from people who attended the talk, some who are starting out on a similar journey!
Meeting new faces and catching up with old friends
Since the pandemic, we’ve grown used to seeing people on our screens and in-person events like Digital Dragons haven’t really been able to happen so it was awesome to see so many people from the industry face to face.
There’s a huge amount of talent in the games industry in Poland, which was abundantly clear from all the people we spoke to and enthused over games and our industry with.
For our studio in Poland we’re initially focussing on a programming excellence hub, though we have big plans to build it into a full studio covering all disciplines, so we were also happy to catch up with skilled artists, producers, designers, marketers and everyone in between!
We hope to see you all again soon 😊
