CREATIVE DIRECTOR

As a Creative Director, you will be highly innovative and have a strong passion for playing and creating games. You will work with a cross-functional team and take responsibility for setting the high-level vision and work closely with all disciplines to deliver on the overall game. 

Third Kind Games is a growing, independent game developer based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, the heart of the UK games industry. Third Kind was founded in 2016,  by a group of industry veterans from many high profile companies such as Activision, Codemasters, Sony, Crytek and more.

Third Kind focuses on emerging technologies and greenfield projects, supported by a dynamic and creative team who are able to explore new ground in this ever-changing landscape. 

Our latest title in development is Blankos Block Party, a collectables game using blockchain technology, where the player can build their own worlds, create their own MMO gameplay, and blend their Blankos to create totally unique new characters.

We are always expanding and we are looking for others to join us as Third Kinders.

ROLE OVERVIEW
  • You will understand our consumer needs and ensure the creative vision is understood by the teams and our partners so the game delivers great player satisfaction and maximum enjoyment. 

  • You can communicate and evangelise your vision to both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • You will be responsible for pulling together the overall creative direction of the game by collaborating and inspiring our teams to achieve this and meet key milestones.

  • You can support the prioritisation of the various daily workstreams to ensure a balanced approach to workload and production on behalf of your management team.

  • You will lead by example and use your knowledge to support the development and performance of the team. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • You can foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, motivating our cross-functional teams to develop unique games with an engaging player experience.

  • You can understand the technical and production elements to ensure a practical concept is delivered and exceeds the customer expectations.

  • You will lead and encourage our creative planning sessions, scrums, and retrospectives and help us drive the development of our projects and the team.

  • Naturally inquisitive, you keep up to date with the games market, emerging technologies and industry trends and cascade according to support the creativity of the game.

  • You will be able to collaborate and communicate well with internal teams and customers to validate the game and realise a shared vision.

  • You will be able to talk and present enthusiastically about game ideas, championing their potential.

  • You will be highly adaptable and a great problem solver.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years industry experience in a Leadership position.

  • A realistic, pragmatic and commercially aware approach to games development.

  • Strong, passionate communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to create and deliver fun gameplay concepts, ideas and features that keep players wanting more.

DESIRED
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or similar game engines.

  • Experience working on all stages of a project, from concept to launch.

Royal Leamington Spa is a well known hub for game development in the UK. It has become known as Silicon Spa for its booming population of game developers and businesses, and it has a rich history in game development dating back over 30 years. It is a beautiful spa town with great shopping, dining, and recreational spaces, situated close to Warwick, Shakespeare’s Stratford, and the Cotswolds.
